Committed to Safety
Our Safety Measures
Our people are the key to our success and are what sets Nichols apart. Our Team of 125+ talented individuals are committed to the Nichols way and delivering each project utilizing the master builder approach.
Safety training starts day one of employment and goes until retirement. We believe there is always room for improvement and refresher training. Training includes task specific and general safe practices.
All team members are encouraged to contribute to safety meetings held by their supervisors. Employees are asked to discuss the work that will be taking place that day and discuss any potential safety hazards and how to work safely. Employees are also encouraged to speak up if they ever encounter an unsafe work environment.
Our operations team members are certified in a number of areas including, confined space, fall protection, first and CPR, as well as many other safety certifications.
We ensure all team members are not only provided with Up-to-date PPE, but also are held accountable to wearing it whenever necessary. Proper use of PPE sets the tone for all safety on each project.
Training & Education
All our foremen are OSHA 30-hour certified and take continuing educational courses to maintain certifications and stay updated in all things safety. In addition, the majority of our project team, tradesmen, and laborers are OSHA 10-hour certified.
Nichols Contracting takes the common sense approach to training our personnel and team partners by training based on what work we perform. In addition to basic construction safety training, we identify the type of work we are and will be doing, the products and equipment that will be used, and the resulting hazards that are associated with such work. Our personnel then are given training applicable to the products and equipment they will be using, and the work they will be performing. When available, we take advantage of the help of our suppliers to further the precision of our training.
