Nichols Contracting takes an open minded and imaginative approach to every project and idea. We know that collaboration, experience, and creativity are crucial to developing a plan that will meet the expectations and requirements of a project.
We first establish the goals of the completed project, the financial parameters, and the overall timeline. With that we will use our own experienced staff, our design and engineering partners, our financial associates, and our dedicated subcontractors, to determine feasibility and to create options to maximize the project expectations while maintaining budget.
We will work with you through the preconstruction phases after the concept is established, including providing design and constructability reviews, permit coordination, updating budgets, and value engineering.
The construction industry continues to move toward the design-build approach for contracting, an approach we have been employing for many years. Done correctly it saves money while reducing the overall project schedule. We excel at design-build projects due to our vast experience and our close relationships with subcontractors and design professionals.
Nichols Contracting will compose a team that includes our project managers, field personnel, subcontractors, architects and engineers. This team will work together to develop a design that is customized to the products being used for the project. This allows for increased field efficiency and minimizes deficiencies that can lead to lost time and change orders.
A significant portion of the preconstruction schedule is reduced by establishing the team up front and eliminating much of the bidding and procurement process. In addition, on-site construction can begin concurrently with finalizing the design and permitting.
Nichols Contracting is different than most general contractors in that we self-perform a majority of our work. While most general contractors are geared toward construction management, we prefer the flexibility, accountability, and satisfaction from doing it ourselves. Our field personnel are skilled in a variety of trades and we are partnered with an electrical and fire alarm subcontractor, Nichols Power Systems. Our business structure allows us to be agile and more responsive than our competition.
Our project management staff is a team of experienced professionals with diverse backgrounds and skills. Communication and follow-through is a constant focus. This is proven in design coordination and the management of our subcontractors, schedules, field personnel, quality control practices, and safety program.
Our work is not done upon substantial completion of a project. We recognize that the lasting impression we leave is our handling of the closeout of a project so we use it as motivation to get punch list items complete and all closeout items turned over in a timely manner. After closeout we can be relied on for support throughout the warranty period and beyond.
