Our experience in life safety and ADA upgrades in existing buildings laid the foundation for larger scale renovation projects. We enjoy strong relationships with structural and MEP engineers which enables us to determine the best and most cost effective solutions for our renovation projects. We self-perform the majority of our concrete, masonry, and steel work in addition to the general carpentry work we were founded on. We are able to knock out smaller projects quickly in-house and have the structure and experience to handle larger projects.

Nichols Contracting provided our design-build services for a new machine-room-less elevator installation and lobby renovation at this office building located in the Historic District of Alexandria, VA. Nichols Contracting provided a complete design-build project for this renovation, from plans, to historical review, permitting, and through construction and turnover. We demoed the existing floor slabs, dug and poured the new elevator pit, installed the hoist way and control room walls, and managed the elevator installation. We finished the lobbies and built a new cantilever platform complete with fabricated railings for the new second floor elevator entrance. The result is a great use of space and a refined finished product.
